MISSION: To inform and persuade local governments at all levels and our communities that allowing the private employer community to function with reasonable local government financial and regulatory burdens benefits the overall community through the creation of jobs, family incomes and tax base to support local services.
PURPOSE: Within the scope of our mission represent the general interests of our members to all local government bodies and in public forums regarding local public policy, and inform our members of issues before these bodies.
OBJECTIVES: Within the scope of our mission -
- Help create the future through the development and advocacy of local public policies and programs that will help our members be the job creators they want to be.
- Strongly advocate that our public jurisdictions and districts exercise prudent financial management, maintain a healthy economic balance between themselves and private sector employees and businesses, and take job creation and economic development seriously.
- Inform our members of actions or potential actions by local government that could impact their business through added regulation, increased cost of government or changes in emphasis of priorities of enforcement.
- Create an effective long-term dialogue with the community regarding our mission and objectives.
- Work with other community organizations to gain their support or lend our support to them when our objectives coincide.
- Oppose action by government that undermines the principle of private property rights.
- Advocate local public policies that economically protect elderly on fixed incomes and working families.
- Help create an environment that liberates the economic creativity of our people.
PRINCIPLES GUIDING OUR STAND ON ISSUES:
- We focus on public policy of jurisdictions in our County.
- We support cost-effective operation of government, use of cost benefit analysis, and effective implementation of modern technology.
- We oppose the substitution of fees for general taxes and support the reduction of existing fees when justified.
- Government should represent its constituents before itself.
- We support open, efficient, and non-duplicative government.
- Our jurisdictions should patronize local firms when cost effective.
- We oppose lawsuits between governments at any level.
