MISSON, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
MISSION: To inform and persuade Local governments at all levels that actions which allow the private employer community to function with reasonable government financial or regulatory burden benefits the overall community.
PURPOSE: To represent the interests of our members to all local government bodies and inform our members of issues before these bodies.
OBJECTIVES: We believe that government exists to provide needed public services which the private sector cannot provide. We will inform our members of actions or potential actions by local government which could impact their business through added regulation, increased cost of government or changes in emphasis of priorities of enforcement. Based on member direction ECMC will implement efforts to influence government consistent with our mission local governments and explain our position on these issues. We will work with other community organizations to gain their support or lend actions by government which underminds the principle of private property rights.
POSITION ON ISSUES:
- We support cost-effective operation of government and urge use of cost benefit analysis and the implementation of modern technology when support by this analysis.
- We oppose the substitution of fees for general taxes and support the reduction of existing fees when justified.
- We support the notion that government represents its contituents before itself.
- We support open, efficient, and non-duplicative government.
- We support use of local private businesses by government whenever such as it is cost effective.
- We oppose lawsuits between governments at any level. We will offer to serve as a mediator as a means to avoiding such lawsuits.
